Pilot Flies Rescue Animals to Foster Families

Army Veteran,Paul Steklenski, just keeps on giving back! What started out as a hobby has led this man to delivering 700 dogs (and cats) to their furever famililes!

A short clip from our last flight. Pink, my co-pawlet, nervously sleeping soon after departure - it did take her a little while to fully relax, which by normal standards is unusual. A few of our pawsengers are also caught on camera as I panned around. It's not easy to capture video, as my eyes and attention are out the front windows, while my ears listen for communication from ATC - so I blindly pan my cell phone camera around with my free hand to try and capture the moment - or in this case, a really good close up of the pawsenger seat back :P BUT you know, at the end of the day, 11 more souls made it home, and that my friends, is all that matters <3 #adopt #rescue #volunteer

Paul, of Schwenksville, PA, takes a trip once a month.  A trip that he pays $1000 out of his own pocket to fund.  Each time he transports about 10 dogs who's time has run up in their current shelter or foster home.

THE BEAGLE appears to be posing for the cover of Vogue, while puppies are cradled in a blanket; some 'all fours' communication takes place while pups are prepared to load into the van. This, this is animal rescue in it's most basic form. When I land with a plane load of pups, I never quite know what to expect on the human front, but I will tell you this; there is usually nothing less than a small army of people waiting for me, ready to whisk these wonderful creatures away to the next step in their journey. Animal rescue is not glamorous, by any means; a pup stowed in a crate for their freedom flight sometimes thanks you by taking a large dump next to you moments after setting foot on ground again; in fact, I've even had them pee on leg; but you know, we wouldn't have it any other way. This afternoon we'll be bringing another 22 lives to multiple rescues; when I think about, and prepare for a transport flight, I always think of what my own miss Tessa has brought to me - be it not for her, we wouldn't exist today; dogs, as it were, provide an unconditional love and loyalty; sharing that with the world is what we simply must continue to do <3 #adopt #rescue #flyingfur

SOMETIMES they cuddle on your shoulder; this was from our last rescue and our first stop in NJ. I may be on vacation this week, but we are already planning our next flight for this coming weekend :) #rescue #adopt #vacation
